Education

Education is vital to a successful retirement. It is our goal to provide individuals with the information necessary to make the best decisions for their unique situation. During the education process, individuals learn their risk score, draw-down potential and annual withdrawal rate. This information will be used to evaluate their current financial position as we develop their financial plan.

Plan Development

Our retirement plans address the risks retirees face while striving to offer solutions that will help with adequate protection should those risks occur. We provide each individual with a “Retirement Blueprint” which outlines their retirement, including goals, concerns, income and expenses. The Retirement Blueprint paints a clear picture of an individual’s current and future financial positions and leads to discussions on how to proceed most efficiently.

Implementation

The implementation process consists of four “Retirement Pillars”, which include risk management, income planning, tax planning and estate planning. Each Retirement Pillar has a specific role in building a solid foundation for an individual’s retirement and is addressed with the appropriate professional. We partner with CPAs, attorneys and insurance providers to help ensure that we implement the best strategies for each client.

Curt Scott has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, and has been a financial advisor since 2009. He founded his own firm because he wanted the freedom to do what was in his clients’ best interests. In the past, he had experienced a financial organization’s pressure to “follow the corporate agenda” to maximize stakeholders’ interests rather than clients’ interests.

Curt’s mission for Scott Financial Group is to help individuals bring all aspects of their financial life together, showing his clients a picture of how they can have a successful retirement while minimizing their exposure to unforeseen risks. The firm works with clients throughout their retirement, helping them address many issues spanning many years. Curt also founded and runs Scott Financial Group’s sister company, Ohio Pension Advisors, working with the members of the five pension plans run by the state of Ohio. Once these pension-plan members retire, they can continue the relationship with Scott Financial Group.

Mandy Scott

VP – Client Experience

Mandy is responsible for overseeing all aspects of client services, assisting with client follow-up, transitioning new clients to Scott Financial Group, and making sure our office serves our clients in the best way possible. She also keeps clients connected by updating our social media accounts, emails, and other various communication outlets. Mandy enjoys getting to know new clients as well as serving our existing clients.

Mandy earned her BA from Ohio University and her master’s from Nova Southeastern University. Even though Mandy loved teaching, she decided to join her husband, Curt, and focus her abilities to elevate the “client experience” at Scott Financial Group. Her organization, attention to detail, and communication skills she acquired during her time as an educator has led to Scott Financial Group operating much more efficiently.

John Kozak has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and joined Ohio Pension Advisors in 2020. His experience as an educator, business owner, and as a family man with 4 children, give him a unique perspective of the need for professional financial planning. His experience of being a 13-year military veteran, and a 35-year veteran firefighter, has taught him the satisfaction experienced while serving others.

John earned his BA in Education from Clearwater Christian College. He has been married to Claudia Kozak for 36 years. John and Claudia are residents of Harveysburg, Ohio and are very involved in the lives of their 5 grandchildren, their community, and their local Church.

Eddie Scott (1969-2022)

In Remembrance: Eddie joined Ohio Pension Advisors in 2011 and was instrumental in the growth and success of the organization in its early years and until his passing on February 1, 2022. His joyous personality, attention to client service, and ability to simplify a complicated mathematical subject proved to be a perfect combination for a Financial Advisor.
